Artist Statement
Jenny Oliver is a rising choreographer in the Boston whose athletic modern dance works have been presented in various festivals and split-bill programs over the past 3yrs including the Collective Thread Festival, HUBWeek Boston, We Create Festival, ArtBeatFestival, MayFair Festival, More Than Moves Festival and most recently at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston in the Ansel Adams Gallery. The mission of Connections Dance Theater is to create research-based choreography reflecting socio-political events that contribute to the fabric of the American perspective. Actualizing a route towards philanthropy to support marginalized communities, CDT aims to be the vessel of hope to all audiences.
Tell us about your BCA Dancemakers residency project.
Hot Water Over Raised Fists is an immersive art-dance installation that takes the viewer on a visceral experience of empathy, and hope. Inspired by the pipeline protests at Standing Rock and the lead-water crisis in Flint, Michigan, Hot Water Over Raised Fists aims to stimulate audiences to think about our participation in a global community.
