OPEN CALL: GUEST DESIGNER FOR FOLD OUT POSTER SERIES

We’re looking for BIPOC New England-area Artists and Graphic Designers to design a one-page fold out poster series for the next four 1:1 Exhibitions in the Mills Gallery at Boston Center for the Arts.

The exhibitions held in the Mills Gallery feature collaborative projects between one curator and one artist that either introduce a new artist or highlight a new aspect of a more experienced artist.

The selected candidate will develop 4 fold out poster designs using text and image provided by the curator and artist. Each design should be able to stand on its own while also working well as a collective series. The four exhibitions, each lasting five weeks, begin in October 2022 and end in the Spring of 2023.

DESIGN BRIEF

Deliverables: A fold-out poster series for the 2022–2023 season of 1:1 Exhibitions in the Mills Gallery at Boston Center for the Arts (BCA). The guest designer will create 4 fold-out posters that form a cohesive set.

Dimensions/Requirements: Fold out posters will be tabloid, 11’’ x 17’’. The designer will work with the Marketing and Communications team at BCA to determine paper color, orientation, weight, and quality.

Design Considerations: The fold out posters will be printed and produced in-house. Our printer is capable of basic bi and tri-folds; however, the proposed designs can have a fold-style that requires manual production.
