Kat Waterman

2025 ACTivate Residency Filmmaker

Kat Waterman, 33, is a gender queer videographer, photographer, graphic designer and a certified drone pilot who currently resides in Greater Boston, Massachusetts. There is nothing she loves doing more than promoting other artists who are following their true passion in life. Capturing and highlighting people’s talents, skills, and their most authentic selves is what she does best… along with befriending every furry pet that crosses her path.

“I’m like the Queer Eye for aspiring local artists!” I’m at my happiest doing what I love, and that just so happens to be promoting other people at their most honest, doing what they love, too. Whether that’s through video, photography, or design…that’s up to you!”

From promotional videos, to real estate, to event photography, to promotional design, Kat does it all — hopping scenes and mediums effortlessly.

Project Statement

During her ACTivate Residency, Kat Waterman will partner with 2025 ACTivate Residents Olivia Moon and Jaina Cipriano to create a short film that documents Olivia’s creative and artistic process. The film will document the week-long ACTivate Residency in the BCA Cyclorama during which the artists will ask participating dancers to pull from experimental practices of contemporary dance to create improvisational structures within pole dance.
