Chrystian Dennis

2022-2023 ACTivate Residency

Chrystian, as both a renaissance woman and humanitarian, graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and received her Nutrition Health Coach Certification all while pursuing modeling as a career. Having featured in campaigns for top brands such as Adidas, Puma, Tempur-Pedic, and Timex; brought health and wellness in full circle. Balancing the stigmas, inequalities, and privileges of the industry provided Chrystian with experiences to share the physical, emotional and spiritual intersection of life. The fire instilled in her, rooted through her Cape Verdean heritage and Dorchester community, has propelled her to channel her power to build and aid people towards an inclusive existence. Chrystian prides herself on having the ability to connect people through the things she creates, whether in support of her endless battle with prison reform, her passion in sustainability, or her continued efforts towards identity awareness. Chrystian has put herself on the frontline with both her art and curated experiences through her brand, WOMBXN, an artistic platform bridging tech and spirit in creativity, liberty, and intimacy to welcome individuals to wander in curiosity, explore vulnerability, and experience love.

FaceMe:BODY ACTivate Residency Project

FaceMe Studios is a collective that curates intentional art surrounding current societal challenges. Their first iteration, FaceMe:BODY focuses on body dysmorphia and the women that are affected by the standards of beauty. The collective will gather the experience through still images, documentary still footage, immersive experience, and data in hope to shift our judgements and the way we connect in the world.

Throughout their residency in the Cyclorama, FaceMe will be hosting a series of photo shoots, conversations, and rehearsals then presenting the images in large format throughout the space during a gallery showing. Work developed during this residency will be featured in their performance at The Strand Theater in September.
