

Andrea Patiño Contreras is a Colombian video journalist and filmmaker. Most of her work examines questions around mobility, immigration and gender. She has worked extensively across Latin America and the United States. Her latest documentary, #IamVanessaGuillen explores the impact that military sexual violence has on survivors and the the failures of the military justice system. Her practice as a filmmaker is rooted in her passion for cultural anthropology and human-centric stories, as well as her own immigration experience. She is the co-founder of the media studio Rabbit Raccoon and an aspiring ceramics artist. During the ACTivate residency, Andrea will create a short film in collaboration with painter Emily Rose Navarro, documenting Navarro’s creative and artistic process.
