prayers from the earth is an exhibition by Kate Wildman featuring inter-dimensional beings known as stonespeakers.

made of carved stones, plant matter, minerals, and metals they have materialized to mend the connections between humanity, the land, and the cosmos.

each stonespeaker carries a unique prayer for healing, change, truth, or grace. they share their divine gifts with those who affirm that all life is sacred, dreams are prayers, all beings are intelligent, and the land holds deep knowledge.

stonespeakers revere mica, a portal for inter-realm travel and message transmission. gazing into mica brings illumination and clarity for all earthly beings, inspiring actions that bring cosmic equilibrium.

summoned by interdimensional threats, environmental crises, terrestrial grief, intercepted GPS signals from Amazon vans, and killer whale calls, stonespeakers oversee planetary balance and protect life from the corrupt forces known as doombringers. their energies, drawn from Earth and the stars, are deeply rooted in a timeless kinship with the land.

forged by deep time and pressure, stonespeakers carry ancient wisdom to help earthly beings realize their inherent gifts, dream new technologies, and protect all life.

About the Artist

Kate Wildman

Kate Wildman, BCA Studio Resident 2021–2024

Kate Wildman is a Boston-based interdisciplinary artist whose work is informed by the dreamworld, natural world, cosmos, astrology and the absurd. Her practice is rooted in a deep fascination and reverence for the physical world while imagining realms beyond it. Her work centers on conjuring otherworldly beings from hidden dimensions, re-envisioning dreams, speaking with flowers and carving stones. Her process is deeply material, experimental, and curiosity driven and often includes sculpture, drawing, printmaking and fibers.

She received her MFA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University in 2019 and has exhibited works at the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, the Wilson Museum at the Southern Vermont Arts Center, Fountain Street Gallery, Beacon Gallery, Piano Craft Gallery and Gallery 263. She has attended residencies at Vermont Studio Center and Pilotenkueche. She is currently a Visiting Lecturer at Massachusetts College of Art & Design in Studio Foundations.
