Born in Somerville Massachusetts, bassist William Mabuza has dedicated his time and passion into the understanding and development of jazz music and contemporary art.

His heroes include the likes of John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Cecil Taylor, and all of those who desired to push music beyond the conventional limits of what was thought possible.

As a 2023 graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music, William has studied under the mentorship of notable artists such as Cecil Mcbee, Dave Holland, Nasheet Waits, and Jason Moran among others, in pursuit of his own musical prowess and evolution. Choosing to speak the musical tradition through jazz and free improvisation he hopes to one day carry the lineage of those who inspired his journey.
