Lilan Yang

Lilan Yang is an artist and experimental filmmaker. Rooted in the materiality of 16mm film, their practice explores the flux of migration, the decay of memory and the intricacies of perception. Yang’s work has been exhibited at institutions including the RISD Museum, Foxy Production (New York), Galerie Met (Germany), and featured in festivals such as the Ann Arbor Film Festival, Alchemy Film & Moving Image Festival (UK), and MONO NO AWARE (New York).

Yang is a recipient of the Award for Excellence at the Image Forum Festival (Japan), and has received grants and residencies from the Puffin Foundation, MASS MoCA, Baltic Analog Lab (Latvia), Millay Arts, Gallery 263 among others. They hold an MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design and a BS in Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Yang currently resides in Boston, Massachusetts.
