Performing Artist at #HellaBlack Vol. 7: Shift

I’m a singer-songwriter, composer and multi-instrumentalist whose work exists at the intersections of folk, classical, jazz, and indie rock. In my work, I like to explore the nuances of interpersonal and intrapersonal relationships, as well as how those relationships can shape the world around us. I value music as a space for community connection, conversation, and activation. I use it as an opportunity for myself and others to express vulnerability, to feel seen and heard. I seek to create an atmosphere in my work that allows for creative ambition, expansion, and freedom.

Project Description: One of the most prominent features of my work is that it draws from such diverse founts of inspiration (both in genre-blending and in an interdisciplinary sense) in order to create a deeply refreshing experience for the audience. Even though music is at the core of my being, I love working with and am often inspired by artists of other genres and disciplines because they challenge me to expand my knowledge of other art forms, as well as my perceptions of the boundaries of my own creativity. I hope to create an experience that is reflective of these motivations and encourages audiences to join me in a creative experience that centers honesty, vulnerability, and freedom of expression.
