WHAT WE BUILD MUST STAY: THE FUTURE OF CREATIVE SPACES IN BOSTON

Arts Activate Boston x BCA | A Creative Space Summit

Tuesday, December 8, 2026 | 9:30 AM–4 PM
Boston Center for the Arts Cyclorama
539 Tremont Street, Boston, MA

What does it take for a city to steward creative spaces that are understood, funded, planned, and protected as civic infrastructure?

Hosted by Boston Center for the Arts and Arts Activate Boston, the Creative Space Summit brings together creative space stewards and arts workers from across Boston to strengthen and preserve the spaces where our communities create, present, work, and convene.

Through practitioner perspectives, collective reflection, and collaborative workshops, the Summit will explore the policies and models shaping creative spaces at various scales. Together, we’ll consider creative spaces as essential civic infrastructure, examine the challenges and opportunities facing Boston’s creative sector today, and workshop actionable policies and models to strengthen and preserve these spaces for the future.

Join us for a day of conversation, collaboration, and collective visioning toward a Boston where creative spaces are recognized, supported, and protected as vital parts of our city.
