What is Artists Rising Community (ARC)?
A membership level for student, emerging, and/or rising artists, creatives, and makers of any age. Whether you are a college student looking to explore the arts outside of school, a recent grad looking to build community, or anartist new to the scene — we’d love to be a resource of professional and personal connections for you.
How is this different from regular membership?
All members, including ARC members, receive the same opportunities to connect, including event invites and BCA communications about artists, programs, and more, regardless of membership level. However, ARC members will have special opportunities to meet and experience local arts happenings, regardless of formal education or experience.
Why Boston Center for the Arts, and why become a member?
Boston Center for the Arts provides critical professional development resources for Boston-area working artists to make new work, take artistic risks, and push their practice. These opportunities bridge the gap from art schools (or other breakthrough educational settings) to established cultural institutions. Membership contributions are directly invested back into artist residencies, exhibitions, performances, professional development, and public programs.
So how much does this cost?
To launch the ARC program, we are opening up the “Choose Your Own” membership level, which starts at just $5. All memberships have an important impact, regardless of dollar amount. Choose the amount that’s right for you.
Is this a “pay to play” type of situation?
That is definitely not our goal. At Boston Center for the Arts, we aim to follow the tenets of community-centric fundraising, which redirects nonprofits, including cultural nonprofits like BCA, to serve their communities first. You can read more about equity at BCA here. Becoming a member is just one way to be a part of what we do at BCA – you can also have an impact by attending performances and public programs, and following our artists on social media. Please sign up for our newsletter and follow us on social media to keep up with all our programs.
